Sounds like the teachers from others places in the universe came thousands of years ago and walked with Abraham and watched the Babylonian Empire being built. Probably still watching today and thinking a mistake was made.
Just throwing another possibility into the ways the tattoos may have functioned - the symbols carry a specfic energetic / vibrational intention that when placed upon these meridians/nadis they are infusing the body with this energy that is in itself the healing, or part of the ongoing healing process initiated by the shaman/medicine person in a ceremony.
We really must stop considering western medicine as modern medicine when it's little more than 100 years old. Western medicine is primitive by comparison.
